The Birman (Sacred Cat of Burma) is a pointed cat, having color on the head, ears, legs, and tail.   It develops into a medium to large, semi longhaired cat with a long, stocky body.  Its body color is creamy with lightly shaded areas.   It has lovely blue eyes and a sweet facial expression.   The most recognized characteristics are the white gloves on front and back paws and white laces that go up the back hocks.  Also notable are the lovely blue eyes, soft voice, and rabbit like fur that has a tendency not to mat.

As a rule, there are no health concerns with a Birman.  Good husbandry practices, high quality food, and current vaccinations, give a very healthy cat.  Of course, this must be sprinkled with a whole lot of love!
